March. Spring is in the air. It certainly seemed that way last weekend as I sat in the garden in the sun. Lots and lots of gardening to do as well.
The madness started actually a few weeks ago when I was introduced to a free internet course by my husband. The course by Jodie King was about how to use Instagram better as an artist. There were some great tips and lots of great people to interact with.
So I started paying a bit more attention to Instagram. I learnt about stories and reels and rewrote my bio. I also started posting more frequently. My daughter and husband are taking part in #the100dayproject challenge so I started watching the posts and wondering why I wasn’t taking part ? Then I noticed that it would soon be #MendingMarch on Instagram. Well, I am a bit of a mender trying to do my bit to reduce the impact textiles have on the environment. So I decided to take part. Then I noticed that it was also #MarchMeetthemaker. ! I am a maker first, and a mender second, so I needed to join the makers challenge too.
Consequently I am going a bit mad with Instagram. In only a week I have meet loads of people and learned loads about textile art and textile recycling it has been wonderful. I even got the wonderful drawing of my hands.
Instagram seduced me once before and I have to say then I neglected my blog. This is not going to happen again. As well as posting on Instagram I have been working this week on a large felted landscape.
I have also been making some smaller more abstract landscapes
I got a new dyeing book. ‘ the art and science of natural dyes ‘ by Joy Boutrup and Catherine Ellis and I am hoping it is going to help me improve my natural dyeing. So in the background, I have been mordanting some fabrics ready to start dyeing.
